The Ogun State Police Command has rescued seven kidnapped victims, neutralised three suspected kidnappers and arrested 38 suspects in a series of operations across the state.
The command said the operations also led to the recovery of two firearms, 75 rounds of live ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles and other criminal exhibits.
The seven victims were abducted on July 29, 2026, along Paraga Street, Ipara.
Following intelligence gathering and coordinated operations involving the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Department of State Services, DSS, Nigerian Army and other security agencies, the victims were rescued.
A Police helicopter was deployed on August 3 following a request by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to provide aerial support for the operation.
One of the rescued victims sustained a gunshot injury and was taken to the Olatunji Disul for treatment.
On August 6, security operatives stormed the suspected kidnappers’ hideout along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway, resulting in a gun battle in which three suspected kidnappers were neutralised. Others reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, four mobile phones and ₦2.3 million from the hideout.
In separate operations, police arrested 12 suspected cultists at Igbesa, 23 foreign nationals over an alleged Ponzi scheme and visa scam, a suspected armed robber and a suspected fraudster accused of impersonating a clergyman.
The command also recovered a sub-machine gun and 75 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a damaged wardrobe in Sakura Division, as well as stolen vehicles and motorcycles in other operations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP. Bode Ojajuni, commended Governor Abiodun, the Police personnel and other security agencies for their roles in the operations.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the Police.
