The coroner inquest investigating the cause of death for 25 years old Jumoke Oyeleke, a lady who was shot during Yoruba Nation Rally in Ojota, Lagos, has revealed that the police shot the deceased dead. This conclusion was reached by the coroner, presided by Mukaila Fadeyi, on Monday at the Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos. The Nigerian Guild of Editors has called on the Zamfara State Government to immediately lift the ban on four shut broadcast stations in the state. The editors say there was no reason for them to have been closed down in the first place. The Zamfara State Government has ordered the shutdown of all federal and private media houses in the state for covering the political rally organised by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Also, the Commissioner of Police in the State has been directed to arrest all pressmen that attended the event. Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court, Lagos on Friday sentenced nine Ghanaians to 72 years imprisonment. Handing down the judgement, the trial judge convicted and sentenced the Ghanaians for conspiracy and dealing in cannabis. Each of them were sentenced to eight years in prison for their attempt to smuggle 10,843.95kgs cannabis into Nigeria through the sea. A 40-year-old father, Abdulkadir Ahmed has been arrested for allegedly killing his own child with the help of his friend, Hassan Sabo.
