An Airforce Sergeant Torsabo Solomon of 153 Base Support Group, BSG (Airforce Comprehensive School Yola, Adamawa state) has been arrested in connection with bandits attack at the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, in Kaduna which took place two months ago. The arrest followed the order of his Base Commander on the request of the Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, after preliminary investigations indicted him for an offence connecting him with arms and ammonition with recent bandits attack at the academy. The accused was conveyed in an Airforce military plane from Yola to the Academy, Kaduna for further interrogation.
Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja had found former chairman of now-defunct Pension Reforms Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, guilty of money laundering charges and sentenced him to 61 years’ imprisonment on Monday. The prison terms are however to run concurrently for eight years. Lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly have impeached Speaker of the House, Paul Emeziem on Monday. The impeachment is not unconnected with several allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office leveled against him. Paul Emeziem was impeached following the unanimous decision of the 19 members out of 27 lawmakers in a signed letter read on the floor of the house. Criticisms are continuing to trail the composition of panel set up by the Lagos State government to investigate the remote cause of ikoyi collapse building. Suspected bandits seems to have been feeling the heat from the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State. The Operatives have intercepted a bus loaded with 500 pieces of daggers concealed under the seats. Other weapons seized from the suspects are different sizes of knives and guns concealed inside Tigger nut bags. From the operation, 18 people suspected to be bandits were arrested with the vehicle while two buses escaped. The State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the three buses escaped from different checkpoints before they were arrested in Ondo town.
