Funke Busari National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Monday intercepted 27 new rifles concealed in a white sack by two suspects while on a motorcycle along Kontagora – Zuru road, to an unknown place in Niger State. Two suspects, Danjuma Auta, 35, and Daniel Danrangi, 25, both male and from Dirin Daji, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State were arrested in connection with the incident. Schoolgirls kidnapped from a boarding school in the North-Western Nigerian state of Zamfara have been released. According to a report monitored on BBC, the state’s Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs, Abubakar Muhammad Dauran, said two hundred and seventy students were freed and are currently in the state capital, Gusau. He said the earlier figure of three hundred and seveenteen has now been discovered to be inaccurate as no girl has been left behind in captivity. It is not clear whether a ransom was paid.
