An ex-convict Adeniyi Ajayi, 27 confessed that he raped one of his victims during the COVID-19 lockdown in the Alagomeji area of Lagos State in April.

He made the startling revelation to CASEFILE during the parade of suspects by Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters on Wednesday.

The one-man ‘gang’ said that sooner than he left prison custody on the basis of theft charges, he returned to crime because he was not killed.

“They should have wasted me, I meant they should have killed me because I learnt how to steal better in prison,” Ajayi narrated.

He said he would go into different homes at nights to steal phones, laptops and other valuables when the occupants are asleep.

He further explained that he carried out his mission by lightning torch on his victims’ faces following which he would ask for cooperation and pretending to call his accomplices.

While queried on how he got involved in rape, Ajayi told this reporter, “I don’t use to rape before but I started it in April when a lady I wooed beg me to leave her and promised me that she would speak to her father to help me because I had no one to assist me when I came out of prison.

“I raped in the same area. I raped women of 25 years, 30 above, infact adult like me.

“I stoled phones, laptop, ATM cards and I asked my victims for codes.

“Then I use the ATM to withdraw their money. I withdraw like N100,000, N110 and N120 before the cards are blocked, Ajayi narrated gleefully.

At a point, he added that, “Though I usually feel bad when I attack my victims because I know what I am doing his bad, I usually bad let them know that it is the situation of the country that made me to commit the crimes. For me, I lost my parents in 2012.

“I usually take Tramadol and Shisha too.”

He however said on the day he went to the home of the lady, her family beat him up, stabbed him by his waist (showing scar on his waist to journalists) and left him for the dead.

But the Police stated that Ajayi was arrested in an hotel at Ijora Badia by SARS operatives following a complaint at Sabo Police Station on 16th June 2020 where some female staff and a male staff of a company reported him to the Police earlier that day, while they were on duty at their workplace one Adeniyi Ajayi alias Ogologo, a male of 27 years old forcefully gained entrance into the company’s building. The suspect claimed to be in company of other members of his gang outside the premises.

He tied the hands and legs of the staff and robbed them of their four phones, two laptops and ATM card. He sexually harassed the female staff.

The suspect was arrested in a hotel at Ijora Badia by SARS operatives and some stolen phones were recovered from him. It was revealed that the suspect operates alone.

He was recently released from prison custody. He equally confessed to series of robbery and rape he single handedly committed around Sabo and its environs.

In the cause of investigation, more than eight female victims and survivors affirmed that the suspect, in the recent time robbed and raped them, even in the presence of their husbands and other family members, the police stated.

The suspect specializes in robbing victims of phones, laptops, gold jewelries and raping female victims.

The Police said he will be charged to Court.
