Just like a loving mother hears the cry and soothes the pain of a child in distress, the First Lady of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu has heard the cry of 19 years old Fatima Yusuf, who is seeking justice against her biological father said to be sleeping with her since she became a teenager, as she has thrown her weight on the matter.

Recall that Fatima Yusuf, had called her father out on social media alledging case of Sexual and Gender Based Violence, SGBV.

In a swift reaction, Arakunrin Rotimi’s wife and First Lady of the State, following the viral video indicated her interest in the girls matter and getting the perpetrator to book.

She has not only condemned the development but sent a team from her office to interact with the girl, her relatives and the police.

Presently, the father of Fatima, who was earlier reported to have absconded, was re-arrested by the police and the case is being transferred to Akure, Ondo State Capital.

Wife of the Governor has expressed that perpetrators of heinous acts of SGBV should not be tolerated in any sane society.

She also said securing justice for Fatima would send a strong message to other perpetrators of such devious acts, saying the full weight of the law would be served on anyone found guilty of such bestial practice.

Barrister Bola Joel, the Ondo State FIDA Chairperson, said FIDA in collaboration with the office of Her Excellency, has been on the case since yesterday when the news broke.

The lawyer, Joel said Fatima has been moved to the Government House while the matter is being closely monitored.

She expressed appreciation for prompt intervention of the wife of the governor and assured that the matter will be pursed to the full course of law and the perpetrator put behind bars.

The Ondo State Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Tee Leo Ikoro, said the case is under investigation. He said the man who had earlier absconded after being released on bail had been re-arrested and the case would be transferred to the State CID in Akure.

The PPRO assured the people that the case will not be swept under the carpet.
