Suspected members of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, on Saturday allegedly beat one Tochukwu Chidi to  death in Bariga area of Lagos, but they are now in Police detention.

The death of 35 years old Tochukwu has become a subject of investigation for the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos following the order of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State,  CP Hakeem Odumosu.

The Police operatives attached to Bariga Division of the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday said four suspects; Sunday Onilede, Azan Razak, Abdullahi Ibrahim, and Fatai Taiwo, who are  members of the OPC were responsible for the young man’s death.

Police says the suspects attacked the deceased and inflicted injuries on him after an argument with them at Temple Street, Bariga.

The deceased was however rushed to the General Hospital, Bariga for treatment, but medical workers pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile in Surulere area, the police operatives attached to Surulere Division arrested one Peter Arinola, at Empire Area, Surulere, Lagos State, with an English Pistol.

He was also said to have threatened a commercial sex worker with the gun while he was negotiating and harassing the lady for sex.

The table turned against him when the distressed lady called for help.

Police report says, “The suspect intended to use the pistol to intimidate the lady to agree to his terms and the amount he wanted to pay, but the lady insisted on certain amount of money.

“Peter brought out the pistol and wanted to force the lady to sex.

“The lady raised alarm and Peter was overpowered and arrested by the people around the brothel.

The police has claimed that five rounds of ammunition were recovered in the room of the lady during the course of their investigation and that the suspect used to assist an armed robber (name withheld) to keep the pistol for operations.

A manhunts has now been activated to arrest the owner of the pistol, who is suspected to be an armed robber, even as the Commissioner of Police is assuring Lagosians of adequate protection of lives and property.

The Police boss has reiterated his vows to go after criminals and hoodlums in Lagos State, the Lagos State Police Command’s Spokeperson, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said.
