Twenty-three year old Taiwo Summonu is an ex-convict who was recently released after serving five years at Kirikiri Correctional facility, but returned to crime shortly after his release, he is again in Police net singing like a bird.
He confessed that he is also a member of the gang who robbed some residents of Lagos at Ajayi Street, Otto-Awori, Ijanikin area of Lagos State on Saturday.
The ex-convict made the startling revelation that sooner than he left the the prison in November, 2020, he has participated in robbery on 13th March, 2021 at 11:30pm and other crimes.
Upon his arrest, one locally-made pistol and live ammunition were recovered from him.
The suspect was arrested by the police operatives attached to Ijanikin Division, while responding to a distress call.
In a releated development some suspected armed robbers took to their heels on Friday when George Bankole, of Fadal Cooperative Estate, Ikorodu, a victim of armed robbery attack, in the Ikorodu, Lagos State struggled with some armed robbers that robbed him of his mobile phones and bags in the area on 12th March, 2021, at 8:00 p.m and recovered a locally-made pistol with live cartridges from them.
The victim informed the police that the armed robbers eventually escaped. He has also reported the incident and hand over the arms for further investigation tat Ikorodu Division, Igbogbo.
A statement by CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command informed that the Police operatives have however embarked on discreet investigation into the matter as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
He said the CP Odumosu directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for further investigation and prosecution.
The police boss also restated his commitment to consistently decimate the activities of criminals and hoodlums in the state as all hands are on deck to have effective policing of Lagos State.
