Seven persons including a family of three in Ntak Inyang, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, were killed in a road accident at the failed portion of Calabar Itu Highway, near the state Broadcasting Corporation’s Transmitting Station.
Eyewitnesses accounts said that the incident which took place near the state Broadcasting Corporation’s Transmission Station occurred when a truck conveying petroleum product rammed into a tricycle and a motorcycle, conveying the victims.
According to the report, the vehicles were on one of the lanes of the highway, due to the closure of the other part of the road for months, following the repair of the failed portion of the road.
Angry mob however set the tank truck, with registration number: NSR-04-XP ablaze.
