    Police Arrests Man, 43, For Allegedly Defiling Wife’s Niece

    A-43 year old, Jonas Nnubia, has been accused of having sexual relations with a 15 year old girl – his wife’s niece in FESTAC Town.

    The suspect was alledged to have repeatedly defiled the teenager (names withheld in their 1st Avenue, L Close, Festac home in Lagos State. 

    The Police operatives attached to Festac Division took the suspect into custody on 3rd April, 2021.

    Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the police station in company of some officials of the Child Protection Network in the State.

    The officials of the Child Protection Network alleged that the suspect has defiled her severally and warned her not to disclose his criminal act to anyone or else risk death.

    The victim has been taken to the hospital for necessary medical examination and attention in order to assist the police in carrying out their discreet investigation into the matter, Police Spokesperson, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said.

    The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that Nnubia and other suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation and possible prosecution.

    CP Odumosu further stated that the command will leave no stone unturned in making sure that Lagos State is rid of criminals.

    He gave the assurance against the background of other arrests made in the state, especially in connection with the arrests of cultists who are perpetrating crimes and social vices in the state. 

    The police boss pledged to continually partner with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and other interest groups in fighting against gender/domestic based violence in the state. 

    Also, the Police detectives arrested one wanted serial killer cultist, Segun Agodo, on Sunday, 4th April, 2021, at about 10a.m in Odongunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

    The suspect is alledged to be a high rank member of Eye Confraternity and was said to had been on the run for a while since he was declared wanted by the police in Ikorodu.

    He was sighted in Ikorodu on Sunday while the DPO Sagamu Road Division and his men were on Surveillance patrol in the area.

    The suspect has been fingered in many murder cases, including alleged killing of a policeman, in Ikorodu.

    Upon his arrest, two locally-made revolver pistols, each loaded with seven and 14 rounds of cartridges, one axe, some cutlasses and assorted charms were found in possession.

    In the Alakuko area of the State, the police detectives attached to Alakuko Division of the command, on 2nd April, 2021, at about 5.30a.m, also arrested one Sola Akinwole, 27, where the suspect and his gang members were robbing at a car/motorcycles shop located at AMJE Bus Stop, Alakuko Area of Lagos State.

    While the police detectives raced to the scene in response to a distress call from the shop, the suspected armed robbers had shot one of the guards at the shop, Tairu Baba, 20, before their arrival at the scene.

    One locally-made pistol and four cartridges were recovered from him.
