    IGP Sets Up Special Desk For Persons With Disability

    The Special Desk for Persons With Disability, PWD, has been officially set up on Thursday in Abuja by the Nigeria Police Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba at the Force Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday.

    President JNAPWD- Mr. Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disability, NCPWD – Mr. James David Lalu, IGP. Usman Alkali Baba, Representative of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Mr. Nura Bashir Alkali, Chairman Senate Committee on Special Duties Sen. Yusuf Abubakar and Board Chairman, Governing CounciI NCPWD – Dr. Husseini Kangiwa.

    The Disability Desk is to avail physically challenged persons unfettered access to police services, promote the dignity of their person, prevent stigmatisation and stereotype.

    This intervention is also expected to give full effect to the Discrimination Against Persons with Disability (Prohibition) Act, 2018.
