A 26-year old lady, Oluwatoyin Joshua has stabbed her ex-boyfriend, Olayinka Adebayo to death over the sum of N3000 in Lagos.

The suspect is currently in Police net even as she said she regrets her action and saying she does not have the intention of killing the deceased but she stabbed him in self defence.

According to the Police, the suspect had stabbed her former lover, Olayinka, aged 27, to death with a kitchen knife during a fight at Ogunnaike Street, Shangisha, Lagos.

Hell was let loose when Oluwatoyin and the deceased had a disagreement over sharing the sum of three thousand naira given the duo by a good samaritan.

Narrating her predicament, Oluwatoyin said an internet fraudster called Olalekan  who was travelling gave her N3,000 and asked her to take N1,000 and give her ex-boyfriend N2,000.

“After Olalekan gave me the money he left, I went to meet my ex-boyfriend Olayinka that his friend said I should give him N2,000, he said it was a lie that he owns the whole money. And I told him he cannot collect the money from me and I dropped his N2,000 on the table.

“Thereafter, my ex-boyfriend picked the money and threw it back at me and then called the guy that gave us the money, before I knew what was happening my ex-boyfriend had started beating me, when he was beating me I went to report him to an elderly person in the area who warned him and I was advise to leave where he was staying and he was dragged away.

“After he was dragged away from my side, he came back to continue beating me, it was in the process I went into the kitchen to pick up a knife to scare him, while I was running from him he hit me on my head back with a broken tile, I then stabbed him on the neck. I never intended to kill him, I was the one that rushed him to the hospital and paid the hospital bill before he later died two hours later.”

The Police in Lagos has said that the suspect is in police custody while awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
