It was a day to remember for the immediate former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano as he was picked up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, shortly after handing over to the new Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
The anti- graft Agency had in a letter to the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Servuce on November, 15, 2021 requested that Governor Obiano should be put on watch list anytime he is traveling out of the country.
His arrest took place on a day his wife had a running battle with the widow of the Ikemba, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca during the inaguration of Soludo.
Later in the evening, the former Governor was sighted by immigration officers at the airport and promptly alerted the operatives of the EFCC, this led to his subsequent arrest.
The arrest which took place around 8:30p.m when the former governor was on his way to the United States of America was confirmed by the EFCC Spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.
