There was a reported attempted escape in Ibom State High court as a court sentenced Uduak Akpan convicted for the murder of a female job seeker, Iniobong Umoren.

Report says it took the intervention of the Police to foil the move when Akpan attempted to escape shortly after the sentence was announced by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang.

The convict was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment in the two charge of murder and rape preferred against him.

But his father, Frank Akpan and sister, Anwan Bassey were freed as the court discharged them of the charge of accessory after murder pressed against them.
