The Lagos State Ministry of Justice has opposed the appeal filed by the Medical Doctor of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye who was jailed for sexually abusing his 16-year-old wife’s niece.

On October 24, 2023 Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court convicted the Appellant for the offences of defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration contrary to Sections 137 and 261 respectively of the Criminal Law, Ch. C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.

But he was dissatisfied with the judgement and proceeded on appeal.

In the counter appeal, the Prosecution hold the opinion  that the lower court based on the evidence presented was right in convicting the appellant.

It also prayed the Court of Appeal to hold that the evidence against the Appellant is overwhelming and the offences of defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration are established against the Appellant beyond reasonable doubt at the lower Court.

While appealing to the Court of Appeal to affirm the decision  of the lower court and dismiss the appeal, it is the belief of the prosecution that the lower court was right in convicting the Appellant on the totality of evidence led before it.
