Justice Rahman Oshodi of Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja, convicted both men for a two-count charge of indecent treatment and sexual assault on Wednesday.

The trial judge convicted and sentenced the duo after they pleaded guilty to an amended two-count charge brought against them by the Lagos State Government.

The defendants were alleged that sometime in 2020 they both used their penis to penetrate the anus of the minor.

The defendants were initially arraigned on a lone charge of sexual assault by penetration in November 23, 2022 and they denied the charge.

During the proceedings of the court, State Prosecutor, Inumidun Solarin, informed the court defendants through the Defence Counsel, Tolulope Banjo had entered a plea and sentence agreement, which necessitated the amended charge of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

The amended charge was read to the duo and they pleaded guilty.

Justice Oshodi convicted and sentenced the defendants to 10 years imprisonment each having been found guilty.

Oshodi handed them the judgement, thus, “Having satisfied myself that the defendant’s guilty plea was voluntary, informed, and unequivocal, I hereby find both defendants, Chukwuka Odinaka and Ikechukwu Eze, guilty and convict them on both counts as charged in the amended Information.”

Justice Oshodi said that both sentencing shall run consecutively and their names should be registered as sex offenders.
