    Court Jails Stanley Amaogo 7 Years For Stealing, To Refund N43m

    One Stanley Amaogo has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for stealing by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday.

    This followed his prosecution and that of his company, Double Miracle Ventures by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

    Delivering the judgement on April 30, 2025, Justice Dada held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

    The trial judge, Justice Dada convicted and sentenced the defendant to seven years imprisonment on count one and ordered the second defendant to pay a fine in the sum of of N1m.

    The defendants were ordered to restitute the sum of N43m in favour of the complainants.

    During his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the charge bordering on stealing, contrary to Section 285(9)(b) Criminal Law of Lagos 2011, and Obtaining Money Under false pretence, contrary to section 1(a) and (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud.

    The defendant and his company, Double Miracle Ventures, were arraigned on January 13, 2022 on a two-count amended charge.

    One of the counts reads: “That you, Stanley Amaogo and Double Miracles Ventures, sometime in April 2018 in Lagos, within the Jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, stole by fraudulently converting to your own use the sum of N43,080,000, property of Mr. Francis Okoye, Managing Director of Fontek Crystal Resources Limited.”

    During trial, the Prosecution Counsel, B.O.A Sonoiki and U.S. Kyari, called two witnesses and tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence by the court.
