The trial of a man, Ntai Bagshaw, has been fixed for May 13, 2025  for alleged stealing.

    Stealing

The  date was fixed following his arraignment on Thursday before Justice Ismail Ijelu of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.

The defendant and his company, Terraworks Limited, were charged on two-count of alleged obtaining money under false pretence and stealing by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

According to the commission, the offence was contrary to section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act No 14 of 2006 and Stealing contrary to section 278(2)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011.

The count one reads: “Ntai Bagshow and Terraworks Limited sometime in December 2021 at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud obtained from Muyiwa Makinde the sum of N70,000,000.00 (Seventy Million Naira) under the false pretense that the money is for the payment of a detached  Duplex in Renat Axis  located at Ogudu GRA, Lagos State which pretence you knew to be false”.

Count two stated that: “Ntai Bagshow and Terraworks Limited sometime in December 2021 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of N70,000,000.00 (Seventy Million Naira) being payment for Detached Duplex located at Ogudu GRA, Lagos State”.

However, when the charge was read to the defendants, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In view of his plea, the Prosecution Counsel, F. T. Giwa asked the court for a trial date and to also remand the defendant in correctional centre.

Justice Ijelu adjourned the matters till May 13, 2025 for bail and commencement of trial.

The judge also ordered the remand of the defendant in correctional facility.
