The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, CRAN, the foremost body uniting journalists who cover Nigeria’s security sectors, has elected a new executive team to pilot its affairs for the next three years.

The election, held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Mike Okiro Press Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, drew a remarkable turnout of media professionals from top-tier news organisations across the country. It was a day of democratic spirit, renewed vision, and commitment to journalistic excellence.

The CRAN team
Olalekan Olabulo of The Tribune was re-elected as CRAN President, having served a commendable term previously. His re-election reflects the confidence members continue to place in his leadership.

Several other familiar names were also returned to office:
- Evelyn Usman of Vanguard remains Vice President.
- Chiemelie Ezeobi of ThisDay was re-elected Treasurer unopposed.
- Ismaila Oguntade of Blueprint retains his position as Financial Secretary.
- Taiwo Jimoh of New Telegraph was elected unopposed to serve as both Public Relations Officer and Auditor — a rare dual portfolio.
The secretariat also welcomed new hands, with Joshua Uloko of City Pride Newspaper elected as Secretary, and Titilope Joseph of Daily Independent Newspaper joining as Assistant Secretary.
In a solemn highlight of the event, legal practitioner Barrister Yinka Sanni administered the oath of office. He reminded the incoming executive team of the weighty responsibility they now bear — not only to CRAN’s constitution but also to the enduring principles of ethical journalism and unity within the profession.
As CRAN steps into a new chapter, all eyes will be on this fresh team to uphold press integrity, foster collaboration, and strengthen the role of crime reporting in Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.
