The Lagos State Police Command on Monday issued fresh security tips to Lagosians on how to avoid falling victim to One-Chance robbery, urging residents to be vigilant when boarding commercial vehicles as sustained intelligence from the public continues to aid crime prevention across the state.

Public cooperation driving success
Addressing journalists at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Olohundare Moshood Jimoh thanked Lagosians for their timely information and intelligence, noting that such cooperation has played a critical role in curbing One-Chance robbery and other crimes.
The Police boss assured residents that protecting lives and property remains the Command’s constitutional responsibility.
The CP pledged to strengthen crime prevention strategies across all areas of the state.
Security Tips: How to detect One-Chance robbery
Giving practical security tips, the police leadership warned commuters to be cautious of vehicles with two or three occupants already seated and waiting for passengers.
He explained that One-Chance robbery thrives on unsuspecting victims entering such vehicles without scrutiny.
Lagosians were advised to remain security conscious at all times.
According to him, “It is for us to be more security-conscious in this regard, where you see a vehicle with one or too many people already inside, it is sensible for you to ask where the vehicle is going, not they asking you where you are going, because anywhere you are going is where they would say they are going.”
Arrests, recoveries, and ongoing efforts
The Command further disclosed that following improved investigations into One-Chance robbery, eight additional suspects were arrested, bringing the total to 21 suspects.
The Police said that four operational vehicles were also recovered, in addition to previously seized ones, including a yellow bus used to pick unsuspecting members of the public.
“No stone will be left unturned in mopping up these criminal elements.” the police assured, reiterating ongoing efforts to dismantle the gang and reinforce security tips for public safety.
“For members of the public in Lagos, where you notice this kind of vehicle coming to pick you, it is prompt for you to be able to detect them because the vehicle will have three to two occupants inside already, waiting for you. Why it is called One-Chance is because it is only one chance that will remain for you to enter into.
“So we recover this four additional vehicles, in addition to the two previous vehicles that we have recovered before. So the other one that we equally paraded before you today, previously, is the yellow-colour bus over there, that where used to pick unsuspecting members of the public, and we have arrested more suspects in that regard also, so we have arrested eight additional suspects, making a total of 21 suspects that we have rounded up in this One-Chance robbery gang.”
