The CLEEN Foundation has announced the death of Simeon Sunday, Media and Communications Officer, who died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following complications from a fatal accident.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Peter Maduoma, the organisation described Sunday as a dedicated professional who played a vital role in advancing its advocacy for public safety, security, and accessible justice.
Sunday, who served as the voice of the Foundation’s communications department, was known for documenting human rights advocacy efforts, covering community engagements, and amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups through multimedia storytelling.
“Simeon spent his career capturing the stories of others… Today, in a cruel reversal, we find ourselves telling his story,” the statement read.
The Foundation noted that he distinguished himself through his ability to transform complex, data-driven reports and security policy issues into compelling and accessible narratives that resonated with the public and promoted transparency and accountability.
Colleagues also described him as a vibrant personality whose energy and wit brought warmth to the workplace.
According to the statement, Sunday had a reputation for easing tense situations with humour and maintaining an open-door approach that encouraged teamwork and mentorship.
“He was a man of deep empathy, known for his genuine interest in the growth of every team member,” the organisation added.
The CLEEN Foundation extended condolences to his family, friends, and the wider journalism and civil society community, describing his death as a painful loss.
Funeral arrangements, the organisation said, will be announced in consultation with the family.
