Pan-Atlantic University alumni have been urged to embrace hard work, discipline, purposeful networking and integrity as essential ingredients for career success and national development.

The call was made by George Onafowokan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Coleman Wires and Cables, while delivering the keynote address at the Pan-Atlantic University Alumni Association, PAUAA International Conference, themed “The Advantage: Connecting People, Ideas and Opportunities.”
Onafowokan challenged participants to invest in personal development and share their professional experiences with others, stressing that sustainable success requires patience, a clear vision and good character.
“Patience, hard work, and integrity get you there. Vision, focus, discipline, integrity, and good character matter in one’s formation. Leadership should be by example. Build a status that makes you a go-to person,” he said.
The conference brought together alumni, industry leaders, students and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for professional growth, institutional development and national transformation.
Earlier, PAUAA President, Dr. Onyebuchi Odianjo, encouraged alumni to give back to the institution that helped shape their lives and careers.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Enase Okonedo, described the gathering as historic, urging graduates to demonstrate the institution’s values through their conduct and contributions to society.
“At Pan-Atlantic University, we believe that we can transform our nation with our actions. Our focus is the transformation of our society. We are the ambassadors, we stand out through our work ethic and values. Let’s mirror the change we want to see and carry out our ambassadorship diligently,” she said.
Special guest of honour, Olajumoke Cecilia Ajayi, advised parents to guide their children while allowing them the freedom to express themselves. She also stressed that competence must be matched with confidence and encouraged young people to discuss their ambitions openly with prospective marriage partners.
During the panel session titled, “Built to Scale,” participants were encouraged to start pursuing their goals before completing their education rather than waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Panelists Dr. Peter Bamkole, Engr. Mrs Elozino Olaniyan, Deji Lana, Titilayo Oyinsan and Temi Salami highlighted the PSPP principle; People, Systems, Process and Patience, as a practical framework for building sustainable success.
They also urged young professionals to develop clear visions, remain productive, identify where they could add value and make themselves available to meet people’s needs.
Another session, “Beyond the Classroom: Alumni Who Redefined Success,” featured Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, Dr. Goodluck Lakinbofa, Mojibade Sosanya, Daniel Nnwoka, popularly known as Dan D’ Humourous, and Salem King.

The panelists shared experiences highlighting resilience, creativity and purposeful risk-taking, encouraging graduates to leverage their talents, remain committed to their vision and create value beyond conventional career paths.
The conference ended with closing remarks by PAUAA Vice-President, Opeyemi Oluleye, who thanked participants and sponsors, followed by a networking session that provided further opportunities for professional connections.
