Justice Josephine Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court, Eti-Osa has sentenced a boat captain, Elebiju Happiness to life imprisonment for manslaughter. Handing down the judgement on Tuesday, Justice Oyefeso found the convict guilty of 11 count charge. Elebiju committed the crime on the 29th of July, 2020 after loading its passengers from Kirikiri heading to Badagry. The prosecution called five witnesses before the court who testified against the defendant. The presiding judge, Justice Oyefeso, held that the prosecution has successfully proven the charge against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt and thereby convicted and sentenced him accordingly. It has now been confirmed that 600 inmates of Kuje Correctional Service In Abuja escaped during a terrorists attack on the facility yesterday. This is according to the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi. Of all the 600 inmates that escaped, 300 have been recovered while 300 are still at large. Justice Abiola Soladoye of an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court has sentenced a housekeeper, Bright Izuchukwu to double life imprisonment for defiling two girls of ages six and seven. The survivours are daughters of his boss.  Convicting Izuchukwu, Justice Soladoye said the prosecution had succeeded in proving the essential ingredients of defilement beyond reasonable doubt.
