Lagos State government on Thursday has listed out about 20 ongoing cases where its officers are currently prosecuting criminal cases in courts against erring policemen that trampled on the fundamental human rights of Lagosians. Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is now ready to address the nation by 7p.m on Thursday. This is contained in a statement signed by his Spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adeshina. He said the decision followed the detailed briefing by security chiefs on the current situation in the country. The fire that broke out in a part of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi Custodial Centre has been controlled, the service has said. It also dismissed fears there was a jailbreak in the correctional facility, insisting that the fire only affected a part of the centre and did not involve inmates. Situation in Lagos is currently getting out of hands as suspected thugs have taken over strategic locations looting and burning, for now BRT Buses at Oyingbo Bus Terminal is currently on fire. The Nigeria Bar Association on Tuesday demanded that the military high command should immediately identify those involved in the shooting of defenceless protesters. Lekki toll gate is currently on fire. Although CASEFILE could not confirm who actually set it on fire but the place is currently deserted. The incident happened shortly after soldiers moved in to disperse the peaceful protesters with live ammunitions. Many of them were shot and the record of deaths is still unknown.
