Police Call For Calm As Gas Leakages Cause Panic In Ikeja And Environs, Read Reasons For The Leakage

The cause of the massive gas leakages reported in Ikeja area of Lagos State, CASEFILE learnt was caused by burst pipelines by construction workers of the current construction works going on in the area.

Computer Village, Ikeja Under Bridge, Awolowo Way, Oba Akran axis and Anifowose area are places affected by the incident.

CASEFILE gathered that it was one of the caterpillars that burst the pipeline during demolition exercise taking place in the area.

Meanwhile the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, has warned residents of the area not to open shops or use open naked fire in order for safety reasons. Emergency workers are already on ground to prevent any calamitous reaction.

The Lagos State Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Adekunle Ajisebutu has however hinted that there is no cause for alarm because the Police and other agencies are presently there.

He added that the area has been cordoned off to protect lives and property and avoid casualties.
