    Meet The New Lagos CP, Abiodun Alabi Sylvester

    Lagos State now has a new Commissioner of Police, in the person of Abiodun Alabi.

    He takes over from erstwhile police boss in Lagos State, AIG Hakeem Odumosu who was recently decorated as Assistant Inspector General of Police.

    The new police boss is from Ekiti State.

    Abiodun Alabi had served as CP Administration Force CID Force headquarters Abuja. He had served in Bauchi State Command as the Commissioner of Police and Force Criminal Investigation Department, FORCID, Annex, Alagbon Lagos as Commissioner of Police in charge of Central Criminal Registry.

    He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and deployed to Force Headquarters Abuja as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Administration of the Mobile Police Force.

    The CP will resume at his post with immediate effect.

    His posting to Lagos by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba is coming on the heels of the recent promotion by the Police Service Commission.

    CP Alabi Abiodun, is a fellow of the National Defence College and a member of Nigeria Institute of Management. An alumnus of the University of Lagos where he studied Sociology and a Masters Degree holder from Obafemi Awolowo University,

    CP Alabi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in 1990 as a cadet officer. He has served in various capacities within the Force which include, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja; DCP Admin Taraba and Bayelsa Commands respectively, and as DCP Operations, Ekiti State Command before his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police.

    Until his recent redeployment, he was the CP Administration, FCID Abuja.

    The IGP has charged the newly posted CP to ensure he consolidate and improve on the gains of his predecessor, particularly in the areas of crime fighting and public safety. 

    He further charged the CP to ensure his leadership role in the new area of assignment upholds policing virtues of professionalism, respect for rule of law and citizens’ rights. 

    The IGP enjoined citizens to render support and cooperation to the new Police helmsman to enable him effectively deliver on his mandate.
