The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has imposed curfew on Sokoto metropolis.

This is in response to the deadly riots that enveloped the state on Saturday.

The police had earlier arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of Deborah Yakubu who was accused of blasphemy by his fellow students of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto.

They made a video recording of the incident, proudly claiming that they were fighting for Prophet Mohammed whose name was allegedly defamed.

This however drew reactions from commentators for and against the action.

Some Muslim clerics including the Sultan of Sokoto condemned the action, while some clerics were reported to have backed the youths.

Even some legal practitioners were pitched against one another, while called for the boycott of upcoming Nigeria Bar Association Section on Business Law, NBA- SPIDEL Conference in Sokoto, the Chairman of SPIDEL, Monday Ubani disagreed.

Already two prominent lawyers have indicated their intentions to withdraw their participation from the event.
