The Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of the Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, upholding his enthronement and dismissing the appeal brought by his contenders.

This marks another victory for the monarch, who has consistently defended his throne since his coronation nearly a decade ago.

Speaking after the judgement, the Oluwo expressed gratitude to God for his continued triumph in the face of legal challenges.

“Again and as usual, Olodumare has won for me the same way I won at High Court. My enthronement was divine and cannot be thwarted by human,” he stated.

Oluwo Of Iwo: Oluwo taunts contenders

The Oluwo Of Iwo, known for his outspoken nature, did not spare his opponents, mocking them for their persistent litigation.

In a statement credited to Alli Ibraheem, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oluwo of Iwo, he stated, “My contenders are perpetual failures. They are made to waste their resources pursuing shadows. I can’t help them because they are purposeful for my promotion. They should continue their litigation while I continue to reign (Awon nse ejo, emi nse ijoba). Please, go to Supreme Court,” Oluwo declared.

Reeling achievements during his reign, Oluwo Of Iwo said, “I have facilitated federal presence within ten years. Iwo is moving progressively. While I commit myself to the improvement of Iwo, defend her heritage, traditions, and culture with no criminality and barbarism, I have cleaned the dirtiest part of this great Yoruba tradition and culture to make it an envy of the world, and people have understood the difference.”

The Oluwo’s statement also revealed his perspective on the ongoing legal battles. “I specially appreciate Olodumare for the rare privilege to always match my enemies. I love battles. When the enemy brings one, I welcome it because Olodumare has always used every battle as a promotional step to my greatness,” he said.

    Gratitude to supporters and judiciary

Oba Akanbi extended his appreciation to his legal team for their dedication to preserving the throne.

“My legal team is acknowledged for their sacrifice and commitment to safeguard a pure throne. You shall continue to rise from top to top and apex to apex,” the Oluwo Of Iwo said.

He also commended the “true blue blood, reasonable sons and daughters of Iwo” who have stood by his monarchical vision, “I appreciate you all. I am optimistic you are feeling the impact. Iwo has grown beyond yesterday. We are greater; we shall be the greatest soon.”

Expressing confidence in the judiciary, the monarch praised the Nigerian judicial system for upholding truth and fairness, “To the Nigerian Judiciary, I acknowledge you for upholding the truth. Continue to be our pride.”
