The ruling followed an application filed by the late MohBad’s father, Joseph Aloba, who is seeking to confirm the paternity of Liam.

Magistrate Sonuga directed that the DNA test must be conducted in an accredited and recognised hospital, either in Nigeria or abroad.

Basis for the DNA test order

MohBad’s father, Joseph Aloba, filed the application for the DNA test through his legal counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN).

The request was made pursuant to Order 8 Rules 1 & 8 of the Family Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) 2012, and Order 9 Rules 8 & 9 of the Magistrate Courts (Civil Procedure) Rules 2009.

The court’s order also directed the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Pathologist at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, to extract any tissue, hair, or any part body of the deceased for the purpose of conducting a DNA test on Master Liam Aloba at a recognised and accredited government or private medical facility within Lagos State, or at another agreed hospital outside the state.

    Parties

The sole respondent in the matter is the late MohBad’s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba.

The case has generated intense public interest, with many Nigerians closely following the proceedings to know the outcome of the DNA test.

Joseph Aloba, the applicant, insists that the test is necessary to establish the true paternity of Liam Aloba, who has been at the centre of several controversies since the death of the singer.
