The Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has ordered an immediate halt to case transfers from Lagos and Ogun State commands to the zonal headquarters, directing Commissioners of Police to take full responsibility for investigations within their jurisdictions.

The directive, which directly affects both commands, formed part of decisions reached at his maiden strategic security meeting with Commissioners of Police, held to assess the security landscape and review preparedness ahead of pre-general election activities.
Surveillance boost, crackdown on violent crimes
As part of efforts to strengthen security, AIG Jimoh ordered sustained surveillance and intensified operations across Lagos and Ogun commands, including round-the-clock patrols, stop-and-search duties, and prompt investigations.
The Zonal Commander maintained that although case transfers have been stopped, petitions alleging investigative lapses would still be referred back to the commands for action.
“Where there are petitions of lapses or grievances, I will still refer them to the commands for the CPs to address and report back to me,” AIG Olohundare said.
The AIG added that specialised support would be deployed where necessary, ensuring that cases within Lagos and Ogun commands are resolved swiftly and perpetrators brought to justice.
He noted that the security situation in both states remains stable, with notable gains recorded in crime prevention through community policing and stakeholder collaboration.
Discipline, accountability and government support
Reinforcing professionalism, the Police boss charged officers to comply strictly with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, warning that misconduct would attract sanctions.
He disclosed that five inspectors were recently dismissed over discreditable conduct and human rights violations, stressing that such actions could tarnish the image of the Zone if left unchecked.
Commending operational support, the AIG praised the Inspector-General for logistics that have helped reduce crime, while also appreciating Babajide Sanwo-Olu for continued support to the police through patrol vehicles, training, and funding via the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
He equally acknowledged the Ogun State Government for providing patrol vehicles and equipment to enhance policing in the state.
Commissioners of Police, Fatai Tijani and Bode Ojajuni (represented), reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing discipline and implementing the new operational directives across their commands.
