Two secondary school leavers Anthony Oghenetega, 21 years old, a suspect who hails from Delta State alongside Emmanuel Elijah, 23 years old from Akwa Ibom State are in troubled waters, having confessed to the kidnapping and killing of a former school mate who just wrote the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination also known as Joint Admission Matriculation Examination, JAMB.

They are both in troubled waters over alleged kidnapping and murder of their friend, Thompson Omokhafe Adams, a 17-year-old victim who was on his way home from the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination also known as Joint Admission Matriculation Examination, JAMB.
In a confessional statement following their arrests by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Anthony, admitted to have strangled Thompson in the company of his associate in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Upon his arrest, Anthony reportedly confessed to the police and pointed to his friend as an alleged accomplice,
The suspected killer was said to have perpetrated the act being driven by fear that the victim could expose them to his parents.
According to him, the victim was lured to his apartment by his friend.
“The motive for the killing was because my associate, which is my friend, said the guy knows him, all his friends and family,” he confessed.
He explained that their plan began when the victim was invited to his house under the guise of a visit.
Unknown to the victim, the suspects had already armed themselves with a cutlass, a nailed stick, chains, and padlocks.
Upon arrival, the victim was welcomed and engaged casually while the suspects planned their next action through the WhatsApp.
Anthony said they later threatened and restrained him.
“We told him to sit down, and my associate chained his leg and padlocked it. He was panicking,” he confessed.
The suspect admitted they recorded videos of the victim before deciding his fate.
“After we made the videos, my associate told me we should not let him go because he would expose us. That was when we agreed to kill him,” stated Anthony in his statement.
Describing the act, Anthony said the victim was strangled.
“I strangled him from behind. When I got tired, I told my associate to continue. When he became quiet, we knew he was dead.”
Following the killing, the suspects reportedly put the body into a “Ghana must go” bag they had purchased earlier and devised a plan to dispose it without raising suspicion.
According to him, they pretended to be heading out for a music job, carrying equipment alongside the bag.
The body was transported on a motorcycle to a remote location, where it was dumped in a bush.
“We waited to make sure nobody was coming, then dragged the bag into the bush and left him there,” Anthony confessed.
He further revealed that the next morning, he contacted his father for money to leave the area.
Police investigations later linked the suspects to another kidnapping and murder incident in November 2025, where they allegedly collected a ransom of N300,000 before killing a female victim.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP. Fatai Tijani, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects to the media during a press briefing on Wednesday at the State Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
CP Tijani also briefed the media on further achievements the Command recorded in April, noting that a total of 118 suspects were arrested following credible intelligence.
The command stated that its operations during the month led to the arrest of suspected armed robbers, suspected cultists, suspected vandals, and suspected street urchins, popularly called Omotaku.
The police noted that the achievements reflect its ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.

Providing breakdown of operations, the police highlighted a major raid carried out on April 26, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., during which 58 suspects were arrested.
The individuals are alleged to be involved in street crimes, traffic robberies, and harassment of residents.
The command said the suspects were linked to incidents of forceful theft and armed attacks targeting members of the public in Lekki, Mushin, and surrounding areas.
The Police boss said investigations are ongoing, and those found culpable will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, as efforts continue to dismantle criminal networks and restore public safety across the state
