A chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Shamsideen Oladiti, alias Shamelon, was arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Olawale Alebiosu of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja for involuntary manslaughter of a dispatch motorcycle rider Ramon Imam.

The Lagos State Government docked the 55 years old defendant in court, on three counts charge of involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy and attempted murder.
The State Prosecution Counsel, Jubril Kareem, told the court that the defendant committed the court offences between August 27 and September 17, 2025.
Kareem told that court that the defendant and others still at large on September 17, 2025, at about 10:00a.m, conspired amongst themselves to commit felony.
He informed the court that the incident took place at Lewis Street Lagos Island.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant on September 17, 2025, at about 3:00p.m, caused the death of Imam, by beating him with fist blows and several strikes on his head and face.
Kareem also informed the court that on August 27, 2025, at about 10:00a.m, Oladiti attempted to murder one Samuel Omale, by beating him with fist blows which caused him severe injury, at Lewis Street Lagos Island.
According to the prosecutor the offences committed contravened Sections 224, 411 and 230 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
Subsequently, the defence counsel Olanrewaju Ajanaku, informed the court of an application for bail, dated April 27, 2026.
Ajanaku told the court that the application has been served on the prosecution and the prosecution had confirmed same.
Ajanaku said “May we humbly place an application for bail, same has been served and my learned friend has confirmed same.”
The state prosecuting counsel acknowledged service of the bail application and did not opposed the application for bail.
He however pointed out that on the face of the application, the counsel to the defence wants the court to direct the correctional centre to confirm the medical status of the defendant.
Ajanaku confirmed same and urged the court to grant the application of the correctional centre confirming the medical status of the defendant.
Justice Alebiosu granted the application and ordered the Controller at Kirikiri Correctional facility to confirm the medical status of the defendant at a Lagos State government hospital.
The judge had earlier rejected the bail application of the defendant based on some errors.
Justice Alebiosu adjourned till June 15, 2026, for trial.
