The Kano State Government has donated a Toyota Hummer Bus to the National Orientation Agency, NOA, in Kano to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, public enlightenment and voter education ahead of intensified civic engagement.
The vehicle was presented to the Kano State Directorate of the Agency on Thursday, September 17, 2026, as part of the state government’s support for NOA’s efforts to disseminate government policies, programmes and public enlightenment messages across the state.
NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, commended the Kano State Government for the gesture, describing it as recognition of the Agency’s strategic role in bridging the communication gap between government and citizens.
Kano State Government supports grassroots communication
Issa-Onilu said the donation came at a critical period as the Agency prepares to intensify its voter education campaign to promote informed, peaceful and responsible participation in the electoral process.
According to him, effective voter education requires sustained grassroots mobilisation and regular engagement with citizens, particularly at the community level.
He said improved mobility would enable NOA officials in Kano to reach more communities with credible and timely civic and voter education messages.
The Director-General explained that NOA officers regularly engage traditional and religious institutions, markets, schools, civil society organisations, youth and women groups, as well as other stakeholders.
He therefore stressed that adequate operational and logistical support was essential to effective grassroots communication.
NOA promises judicious use
Issa-Onilu assured the Kano State Government and residents that the vehicle would be properly maintained and judiciously deployed to support the activities of the Kano State Directorate.
He said the vehicle would be used for voter education, grassroots sensitisation, public enlightenment and community engagement.
“We assure the Government and people of Kano State that the vehicle will be properly maintained and judiciously utilised for the purpose for which it was donated,” the NOA DG said.
The Director-General also appealed to other state governments, corporate organisations and stakeholders to emulate the Kano State Government by supporting NOA’s grassroots communication and citizen mobilisation efforts.
He described such support as an investment in effective public communication, responsible citizenship, national unity, peace building and increased citizen participation in Nigeria’s democratic and development processes.
Agency reaffirms partnership
Issa-Onilu reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Kano State Government and other stakeholders.
He said the Agency would continue to promote the National Values Charter, voter education, security consciousness, national unity, responsible citizenship, social harmony and positive behavioural change among Nigerians.
The donation, according to the Agency, is expected to improve the operational capacity of its Kano Directorate as it expands engagement with citizens across communities in the state.
