Lagos State Government on Friday released 179 people on isolation who had contact with the index case, an Italian who brought Coronavirus to Nigeria. Of the 179 people, 40 were quarantined in Ogun State while the remaining were monitored in Lagos State. The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, giving update on Coronavirus situation in the state said initially, 179 contacts with the Italian were traced and that since they had exceeded the mandatory 14 days isolation, they had been let go as none of them developed any symptom of the disease. Justice Annwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court in ruling on Friday has ordered the immediate release of the deposed Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from detention. The judge made the order in an ex-parte ruling after listening to lawyer to Sanusi, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who argued a motion ex-parte to that effect. He also granted the applicant leave to serve a copy of the release order and the processes in relation to the substantive suit on the respondents through substituted means.
