I Never Went Into Hiding – Aguayo Ironsi Market Traders Association Chairman Declares

Chairman of Aguiyi Ironsi International Market Traders Association, Chief Chukwuma Onyebinanma, has declared that he never went into hiding to evade Police arrest.

Speaking from his auto spare parts shop in the popular market, Onyebinanma described the rumour of his hiding as a calculated attempt by a factional group to disrupt the market’s election.

Why would I hide when I didn’t commit any crime?” he asked emphatically, stating that “I’m not hiding from anyone.”

When asked about the market’s current state, he reported that all was well, with no violence or disruptions. He attributed the rumours of violence to opposition attempts to disrupt the election process.

“They want to enter the seat from the backyard, saying members won’t use identity cards to vote. But that’s not how it works. Our constitution requires members to pay annual dues and obtain an Identity Card to participate in elections. The dues are N200 per month and N2,400 annually”, he stated.

Regarding the Police invitation, Onyebinanma confirmed that he attended voluntarily and presented three ID cards as evidence.

He said: “The matter was resolved amicably, and he stated that there is peace in the market. So, why would anyone say I went into hiding when I’m here, going about my normal business?” he wondered.
