The Chairman of United Bank of Africa, UBA and Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu is mourning the loss of some staff on Tuesday in the fire incident at Afriland Towers, Broad street in Lagos.

In a statement personally signed by him, Elumelu revealed that some staff lost their lives in the incident.
An initial statement form UBA stated that their staff are in good condition.
It was also gathered that four senior members of Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, also lost their lives in the incident.
A statement from FIRS confirmed that two Assistant Directors; Mrs. Ekelikhostse George, Mr. David Sunday-Jatto, a Senior Manager, Mrs. Nkem Onyemelukwe, and a Manager, Mr. Peter Ifaranmaye were killed in the fire incident.
Reacting to the deaths of some staff of Heirs Holdings, Elumelu stated that he will be cutting short his trip from New York as a mark of respect to the departed colleagues. A minute of silence is scheduled for 12 noon across all groups.
