A man, Philip Jordan has been remanded in a correctional facility in Lagos following his arraignment on Thursday for allegedly stealing exhibit from the exhibit room.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, arraigned the defendant before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Special Offences Court, in Ikeja, Lagos, on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and dealing with property subject to forfeiture without due authorisation.
The offences are contrary to Section 32(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004.
EFCC files charge against Philip Jordan
Count One reads:
“Philip Patrick Jordan, on the 15 day of October, 2025, in Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, without due authorisation from
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission dealt with one Iphone 14 pro, which is the subject of final fofeiture order to the Federal Government of Nigeria”.
Count Two reads:
“Philip Patrick Jordan, on the 15th day of October, 2025, in Lagos within the Jurisdiction of this honourable Court, dishonestly took one Iphone 14 pro property of Federal Government of Nigeria for your own Use” .
Addressing the court, counsel to the prosecution, Zeenat Atiku, informed the court that the defendant had visited the EFCC office on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, on an errand and allegedly stole the exhibit from the exhibit room.
The prosecution further told the court that the defendant initially denied the allegation until CCTV footage showing him committing the offence was played to him.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to both counts when the charges were read to him.
Following his plea, the prosecution requested a trial date, informing the court of its readiness to call all its witnesses in a day and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre.
However, defence counsel, K. C. Onyegbule, informed the court that he had just been briefed on the matter and orally applied for bail on behalf of the defendant.
Justice Oshodi declined the oral application, directing the defence to file a proper bail application.
Subsequently Justice Oshodi adjourned the case to March 3, 2026, for trial to commence.
