The number of Coronavirus cases climbed to 3526 in Nigeria on Thursday according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC. In its updated figures, the agency stated that there are 381 COVID-19 new confirmed cases in Nigeria. So far the country has only 107 record of death and 601 discharged. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu has reiterated for the uptenth time that journalists are essential workers needed in combating the spread of the Corona virus pandemic in the state. The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, has revealed that 10 persons associated with the Lagos State House in Marina have tested positive for COVID-19. Professor Akin Abayomi who broke the news on his twitter handle said the development made the state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife Joke to undergo another test for the disease. Legal Defence and Assistance Project, LEDAP, has condemned the directive of His excellency David Nweze Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State, ordering local government officials and law enforcement agencies to flog anyone who appears in public without wearing face mask in Ebonyi State. The Lagos State police has arrested a Nigerian music video director, Clarence Abiodun Peters, over the death of dancer and video vixen, Love Divine popularly known as Picture Kodak. The dancer, Kodak was alleged to have died of electrocution while charging her phone at Peters’ house on April 30, 2020. Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced the relaxation of the Presidential lockdown order imposed on the state. Governor Ganduje announced two free days for purchases during the lockdown period. According to him, Monday and Thursday would be lockdown free days from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The Governor noted that no markets will be allowed to open unless supermarkets. List of the supermarkets would be announced on local radio stations. The governor added that only Yankaba Market, where perishable items are sold, and Yan Lemo Market, would be allowed to operate on Mondays and Thursdays.
