The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria is calling on the Federal Government to warn security agencies against deploying force to disperse the current peaceful protests against police brutality.

The Church, in a statement by the Prelate, His Eminence Nzie Nsi Eke and signed by the Head , Information and Public Affairs, Reverend Nnoke Ibe notes that it was the inalienable right of the protesters to express their feelings and concerns on matters directly affecting them.

According to the Prelate, “The Church calls for an end to police brutality, extortion, abuse of power and extra judicial killing in every form”.

His Eminence further said;”The government must pursue a far-reaching Security policy that will be all embracing to give the Nigeria Police Force a better platform to continue in the legal duties “.

He also called on the Federal Government to enhance the training policy of the officers and men of the police force, provide better and modern security and intelligence equipment to boost the work of the personnel in their duties”.

Nsi Eke enjoined Nigerians particularly the youth to express their feelings without resorting to violence and other illegal actions.

“They should remain resolute in their pursuit for a better living condition for the citizens of Nigeria and prayed that God will help the nation overcome the current challenges “, the PCN Prelate said.
